🚨 Beware of the Latest Toll Fee Scams—Now Targeting Drivers in These States! 🚨

In recent months, a surge in toll fee scams has been reported across multiple states. Scammers are impersonating legitimate toll agencies, sending fraudulent text messages claiming you owe unpaid tolls. These messages often contain urgent warnings about late fees, license suspensions, or legal action if immediate payment isn’t made.
I personally as the founder of SeniorShield, almost fell for one of these scams myself! I received a text claiming I owed a small toll fee, and it looked so real that I nearly clicked the link. Luckily, before I did, I uploaded the message into SeniorShield—and sure enough, it was a known scam.
Now, I’m making sure you and your loved ones know how to identify and avoid these scams before they cause any harm.
✅ Appear to be from legitimate toll agencies
✅ Claim you have unpaid tolls and must pay immediately
🚨 Connecticut – Fake E-ZPass messages have been circulating, prompting officials to issue warnings. (Source)
🚨 New York – The Thruway Authority has flagged fraudulent E-ZPass texts threatening fines and license suspensions. (Source)
🚨 Texas – Scammers are impersonating TxTag, urging drivers to pay “overdue” tolls via fake websites. (Source)
🚨 Massachusetts – The MassDOT has warned of scammers impersonating EZDriveMA with fraudulent text alerts. (Source)
Scammers send phishing text messages that:
🚨 REAL EXAMPLE: A woman in Huntsville, Alabama, lost over $1,000 after clicking a fake toll payment link. (Source)
✅ Verify the Source – Toll agencies do not send payment requests via text. Always check the official website.
✅ Avoid Clicking Suspicious Links – If you receive a text about unpaid tolls, go directly to your toll account instead of clicking any links.
✅ Look for Red Flags – If a message contains urgent threats, odd wording, or an unfamiliar link, it’s likely a scam.
